Meeting Marks Publication Anniversary of Kim Jong Il’s Work
A Pyongyang municipal meeting took place at the Central Hall of Workers on August 3 to mark the 20th anniversary of the publication of Chairman Kim Jong Il’s work Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification.

“Chairman Kim Jong Il published the immortal work on August 4 1997 to provide guidelines for accomplishing the cause of national reunification,” said Ri Son Gwon, chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country.

In the work the Chairman formulated President Kim Il Sung’s three principles of national reunification, the 10-point programme for overall national unity and the proposal for founding a Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo as the Three Charters of National Reunification and clarified tasks, ways and principled matters to complete the cause of national reunification, he stated in his keynote speech.

He described the work as a library which gives scientific answers to all the problems arising in crystallizing the President’s idea and line of independent reunification and great exploits in an all-round way and accomplishing the long-cherished cause of national reunification.

The Chairman wisely led the effort to carry out the President’s instructions to the letter, consistently holding fast to the Juche-oriented reunification line and policy, he said.

Thanks to the Chairman’s noble yet patriotic will and courageous decision to reunify the country, he noted, the June 15 2000 Joint Declaration whose gist is the By-Our-Nation-Itself idea and the October 4 2007 Declaration, its action programme, were adopted, setting up a historic milestone for independent reunification in the new century.

Today the great leaders’ Juche-based reunification ideas and lines and their undying feats are successfully being carried forward by Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, he added.

He called for working harder to complete the cause of the Juche revolution and achieve the independent reunification following the Supreme Leader, the lodestar of national reunification.
